Samantha always grew up yearning to work with animals. After graduating high school in 2006, she began working at Deepwood. She then enrolled at Northern Virginia Community College and became part of the Veterinary Technician Program, where she graduated in 2009. She recently become certified in Equine and Canine Massage Therapy! Samantha thoroughly enjoys interactive contact with animals. She takes high interest in educating clients to understand what veterinary medicine has to offer. She has a vast desire to create and establish different programs for the practice. Her furry family consists of 2 horses, 1 pony, and 2 dogs. Samantha’s favorite past times include traveling, horseback riding, and being a first time mom to her son.

Ellen, for many years, has been a dedicated and loyal Licensed Veterinary Technician at Deepwood. She obtained her license in 1972. Ellen assists with all surgeries and anesthetic procedures. She cares for two dogs, two cats, and many horses.  She is a devoted animal lover and has a wealth of knowledge about Veterinary Medicine. In her spare time, you can find her trail riding, biking, or vacationing at the beach.

Rosanna recently graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associates in Veterinary Technology (LVT). Rosanna has been working for Deepwood Veterinary Clinic since 2006. Rosanna has always enjoyed working with animals and she is very interested in animal behavior.  Rosanna has two dogs, Lola and Coco, both were adopted through Deepwood Rescue. She also has 2 domestic shorthair cats, Kingston and Amber. In addition to her four-legged furry pets, she also has fish.

veterinary technician Joyce FletcherJoyce Fletcher

Joyce Fletcher was born in Maryland, but grew up primarily in Northern VA. She has worked at various animal hospitals since the age of thirteen. She joined the Deepwood team in 2007 where Dr. Pool was her mentor for the NVCC Online Veterinary Technology Program. She graduated in 2010, summa cum laude. She now plans to work toward her Bachelor’s in Veterinary Technology from the St. Petersburg College Distance Learning Program. Joyce has special interests in dentistry, behavior, anesthesia and exotics. She hopes to achieve Veterinary Technician Specialty status in one or more of these fields. When Joyce isn’t at Deepwood, she can be found spending time with her family which includes Miniature Dachshunds, a Jack Russell Mix who thinks he is a Dachshund, two guinea pigs and. She also has a very large spider collection.

Laura was born and raised in Manassas, Virginia. She began her career in veterinary medicine in 2000.  She is currently working toward a degree at NVCC, and is certified in Equine Sports Massage Therapy (ESMT). When not at Deepwood, you can find Laura riding her horse. She also enjoys boating, wake boarding, water skiing, and spending time with her husband.

 

veterinary technician Donna LeftwichDonna Leftwich

Donna Leftwich is from Southeastern Virginia. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Nutrition. She then furthered her education in the veterinary field through Northern Virginia Community College where she attained an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. She has been with the Deepwood Team since 1991, when she started as a receptionist long before becoming a licensed technician. She enjoys critical care nursing and the operation of our pharmacy department.  She also acts as a service coordinator for a number of rescue organizations.  Donna has dedicated herself to fostering and adopting animals in need. Her current four-legged family consists of multiple rescue animals. Her pit bull (Romeo), a small Doberman mix (Remi), and a Papillon (Bella).

Kim has been a Veterinary Assistant since 2002. She has been working at Deepwood Veterinary Clinic since 2007. Kim is working to be a certified Wildlife Rehabilitator. Currently, she is enrolled in an online veterinary technician program. She has two pit bulls and an Australian Shepherd. She is an active member of the AKC and UKC Kennel clubs and likes to travel. You can find her helping the doctors with your pet’s appointment.

Alison was born in San Jose, Costa Rica and lived in Spain for a time, but spent most of her childhood in Springfield, VA.  Her love for animals began at a young age, growing up with dogs and taking horseback riding lessons. Alison went to school in Pennsylvania at Gettysburg College where she was the captain of the equestrian team and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in May of 2005. She began working at Deepwood the July following graduation. Alison started out in the “trailer days” as a receptionist and large animal technician. She is currently working as a veterinary assistant and large animal technician. She especially enjoys her time out in the fresh air with the horses and other farm animals. When not at work, Alison teaches riding lessons and helps coach an equestrian show team at a local schooling barn. She also tries to make time to ride her horse, Sassy and play with her rescue border collie named Luke.

Pam has worked for Deepwood for over 7 years. She started as a receptionist and worked her way to Veterinary Technician. Pam looks forward to helping our clients with their furry loved ones. She has eight animals of her own including her  two dogs, Suchi and Buxton, and her cats Hatteras, Frisco, Mister, Tinsy, Dot and Bristow. When Pam is not at Deepwood she donates her time as a foster to young kittens without mothers. Pam will bottle feed the kittens until they are able to eat solid food. She is known at Deepwood as “Momma cat!”

Katherine Mills is originally from Haymarket, Virginia. She has been in the Veterinary field since 2000. She joined Deepwood Veterinary Clinic in 2003. She has three dogs, three cats, two guinea pigs, two horses and pygmy goats. Kaiti is very active in the local equine community. She is a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist. In her spare time, she enjoys singing at church, giving riding lessons and spending time with her husband and three children.

Kate has been a valued member of the Deepwood team since 2008. Kate splits her time between the large and small animal departments. If you see the large animal truck out on the road, give a big wave because most likely Kate is piloting the big rig. When she isn’t out vaccinating goats and sheep, you can find Kate hanging out with friends and animals. Kate owns a pit bull, Cheyenne, and a Presa Canerio, Phinn. Kate also enjoys riding her horse, PJ.
